Laughing Cat Studio, as much as I tend to use the royal “We”, is really just the creative outlet for one, lone crazed cat-lady; me. The Laughing Cat designs, that include cats, dogs and birds so far, are an outward expression of both a  passion for animals & animal rescue  and my own personality. I try to imbue each design with a sense of whimsy or humor and capture what I believe to be the personality of each animal in the design.

I am an animal rescuer. If I were a superhero, my personal Kryptonite would be cute furry animals. For as far back as I can recall, there has always been an animal – usually a dog in my life. My “career” as a rescuer came later in life and started innocently enough when I adopted a puppy that a friend couldn’t find a home for. From there it was a series of homeless dogs and cats…rescued from the streets, from neighborhood kids…I can’t remember the last time I intentionally sought out a new dog or cat. They seem to find me.

I struggle sometimes – as caring for so many is not without its challenges, but at the end of the day, it is worth it. They make me smile, and laugh. They offer unconditional love and provide purpose. I believe God calls us to be good stewards of all He has given us, and I believe this includes all of His creatures. Great and small.  Come Judgment Day I am sure I shall be found wanting in so many ways…I hope it is not for failing to render aid to those weaker, smaller or in need.

In addition to the cats, dogs and birds there are a number of other designs and creations to see here. I get inspired to create new things randomly and always seek to share with the world at large. I shall endeavor in the coming days to talk about the design, their inspiration as well as introduce you to the “team” on the blog. So check it out, drop us a line, share a thought or two. I look forward to the journey with some new friends!

I hope you enjoy browsing the site, I hope you’ll find a design or two that you must make your own, and I hope that you’ll tell a friend!

With respect and gratitude,

Jill Steele
